I put on a beautiful sky blue button down top today, The weather was warm and the material of this beautiful sky blue top made me sweat (despite my deodorant) I sweat under my arms, like a lady gorilla. Since I work in fashion we always have a t- shirt laying around. I put on a t-shirt, went out for drinks w my coworkers, lifted my arms behind my head only to notice all eyes on my sweaty damn arm pits. Goes to show you, people who work "in fashion" are mostly unfashionable.

I blame this posting on Jury duty.

Monday is officially labor day. We have off on Labor day. Tuesday I have been summoned for Jury duty, in down town BBBBBBrrrrrrooookkkkklllllyn! Anyhow I didn't want to leave my work undone. When I leave my work undone, my coworker has to clean up my mess. Which is not fair. So I worked late today on a Princess line, full of flowers and butterflies
and photoshop tiffs. I'll never embed a file, even so these files get so large that it takes 10 minutes each save.

Rushing to get out I left my sketchbook on my desk, and I really liked my drawing. I would have never stayed late if it wasn't for Jury Duty, and I would have never been so careless to leave the sketchbook at work.

Nothing new, cause I need to veg, so here is something 8 years old.
PS the nose on this piece cracks me up!!!

I didn't get the chance to create something new today, even though
I had grand plans to do so. I am learning from this blog, that I should
never make grand plans, because when I do they fall apart, but when
I just go with the flow, a flow begins to form.

I showed this blog to a dear member of my family today who thought it was
a cute hobby.(which this is my hobby)
Sometimes it is upsetting that my familia does not see my
drawings, and when they do they seem unaffected. It makes me think
2 things, do I not take my work serious enough? or do they not take my
work serious?

Nevertheless, at a certain point in life approval should not be so important.

great trouble waking in the morning as well. Rather annoying. My work loads have made my sleeping patterns

The Big and Tall

A big and Tall lady sat next to me on my bus ride home today. There were other seats available, but she decided it'd be a good idea to interrupt me, and stare at me during my entire ride home. When seats became available she decided to stay put.

The weather was not as hot as usual today. I did see some silly lady with long sleeves and scarf, smoking a cigarette. It disturbed me. I also saw a boy on the subway with his mother I assume. The boy looked 10 years of age, and had a huge tattoo on his neck. I found this disturbing as well.

Today was mostly splendid. I decided to step away from this machine, take boxing in my old neighborhood, have brunch with Rumbi, at an overpriced trendy spot in Brooklyn.

I had egg whites, which cost
2.80 extra
with goat cheese (there was no feta)
2:80 extra, and tomato,
2 bucks extra.
When Rumbi asked for cheddar cheese, I had to interupt the waiter and suggest it should be one buck more, cheddar is low class, and he seriously agreed.
This was a 50 buck meal just for a tiny brunch. we should have stuck to the usual slope brunch joints, the humor of the pricing was well worth the experience, and now I can spread the word to Brooklyn eaters, if you want egg whites,or anything less. don't go there!

To top the day we went to a bbq, where I ate some more. So this summer has been full of me sitting on my ass and stuffing my face. I've gained some belly fat here, as a single woman this is a problem. I haven't dated in a while, and I'm sure I'll regret this when a handsome man comes my way and I'll have to sit quiet trying to suck in my big gut!

Anyway......I've been creating these drawings on a new sketchbook that's smaller than most. I tend to draw kinda long , so I can only fit half bodies and faces, hence all the faces. The thing is I love the paper.
It's a bit thinner than regular sketchbook paper. I hate that thick paper, it makes my drawing feel stiff before I even put the pencil on the page.
I'm going to purchase some water color paper this week, along with a water color set, I'm excited. I must sleep now, I am sick of waking up exhausted for work!

This is my 59th post.
I title it a space. I did this in my very own drawing/work space.

adding on ugly pretty bitch, was about to take a shower but instead did a drawing, now I'm a dirty pretty bitch. Okay I should not type when I am tired and it's late, a different me comes out.

Had a lovely day. Spent a lot of my time in Brooklyn with a good friend.
I have to take Brooklyn out of my blogger profile soon, but I am just not ready yet.

I returned to boxing today. I've been advised to stay away, but bullshit! The strength is what allows me to recover from injury sooner.

Here are some shots of the work room, it's quite industrial at the moment, but works fine for me.
The chair I sit on, is the first chair that has brought me a lot of prosperity. But it's time for it to go, in coming an orthopedic chair.

Orange Infestation

This was my mother's living room before me and my sister in law redid it. My mom had an orange infestation.
My mother is one of the strongest, most independent, and kind individual I know.

I have to finish some loose ends before I leave for more summer sun, so nothing new. Is it selfish that I sit here in my own bliss, with horrific tragedy occurring in this cruel world?

I see fellow artists expressing the pain and cruelty through their work. It's very touching and affective. It's makes sense to draw the pain, and severe injustice, to say the least. it seems to be the best way to express, and give to the world.

Needles in my neck

I tried acupuncture today. I don't quite understand the process. I got on the bed, she stuck needles in my neck, I drooled on the floor, felt like a dog, and my neck still hurts. This is from that same summer, sketchbook , 18 years of age. I hadn't been laid yet, hence the hunky'dory post.
If I drew love now, believe me it'd be demented, just wait till you see what I've got in my sketchbook from the bus ride home today. I had a buzz from dinner and wine, and boy do I let loose.

It's hot as hell here and the news is acting as if we are going to die from heat. In my humble opinion...there are only a few people with the right to complain,
The very young,
The very old, and
The very sick.
The rest of you fat asses need to shut your traps and deal with it, THIS IS THE SUMMER gosh darn it, embrace it!

Sometimes I use this blog for idiotic entertainment, I'd like to be more determined and serious, but I can't beat myself up about it. It's just that I feel some greatness in this deep hole inside of me, but I just can't find it yet. I can't let another year go by searching for it. Alright I must shut up and get to work!

I was told by a good friend that I should not reveal all on this blog. For many reasons. I'm owned by certain jobs of life. This is the best way I can put it.

I should be on a second shift of real work at the moment, and I'll be paying for this later, but this bloggery is truly getting to me gosh darn it!

Sorry I had to delete this picture, I just looked at it, and it made me sick to my stomach!
I was blog surfing, I came across an artist who I admired long ago. A fashion illustrator. Funny thing, the art made me want to put down my pencil. While artist I've newly discovered from these blogs, make me want to pick up that pencil!

I did this 10 years ago, how time is flying by. My Blog could use some color, and this sketch book is sitting on my bookcase.

I remember this summer, I decided to paint as many little sketches as possible. I did this so I wouldn't be rusty when returning to school. I showed the sketchbook to my professor when I returned for the fall. I don't think she was too impressed, but whatevas!

Healthy Holiday: Next week

I'm leaving for a healthy holiday in Miami! Much needed. I'll moan about obstacles, but all in all this has been the most successful year for me yet.

When I get back on my list of personal projects, I'd like to go back to previous posts on this blog and fix the art to be quality instead of quantity.

After work this evening I headed to the east side for an MRI of my cervical spine, my neck. This procedure seems like some crazed ancient time warp. They corked up my ear drums and tubed me off to outer space. The noise of the machine sounded as if construction workers were busy building planet scrapers on Planet pluto. A procedure that seems completely ancient yet at the same time futuristic.

I'm sure all this could have been avoided if I took the time to roll my neck during work projects.

The few things I now remind myself while sitting in front of this screen are

The other day a friend glanced at one of my drawings and commented..."You love lips". I said, yeah, um, I guess I do.

Of course I LOVE lips.

BIG full lips. In my opinion, the perfect man is the one that circulates his smooth fingers, ever so gently around his woman's lips. As she dozes off into relaxation he's there to caress her big lips!

My lips are normal size,not overly small, yet not stunningly big. There was once a man who made these lips of mine feel full.

Drawing on the bus. The other evening I was thinking of how most of my day involves drawing butterflies, hearts and flowers. Pretty flowers. They are looking to add another artist at the company at work with. The job description actually says, "Must have pretty hand"

I've been really busy with some projects. After this coming week, god willing, I'll have more time to draw.

I must have slept on the wrong side of the bed, actually last night I fell asleep on the floor, watching TV. Woke up with the worst neck pain ever. Once a year I suffer with insane neck pain drama. I've had physical therapy for the pain in the past, a true pain in the neck. nothing works!

I zoned out the pain by sketching.
Here is my interpretation of Rumbi. She's running a Boston Marathon this weekend and I wish her the best of luck! She's a beautiful person, my sketch hardly does her justice.

I usually don't draw people I know, but I am sick of magazine reference, it gets dull, instead I'm going to start drawing beautiful friends and family.
I should start drawing men as well. The last couple of men I sketched were lovers, I wonder if it's bad luck to draw the men you love?

Was all over using NYC transit this weekend. Started off Saturday, Brooklyn to Queens. Sunday Queens to Brooklyn. Back to the big apple for the African Film festival, a good friend of mine reserved tickets to Carmen, South African style. Fun and lovely film.
Any how these are the sketches during the train ride, hope to develop some, but this week will be a hard week for drawing.

I was on the train today, I glanced at the seat next to me where a student sat sketching in his little sketchbook. It always makes me curious, especially since these kids usually conceal what they're drawing quite carefully. I usually imagine the most fantastic of genius art being created. Today somehow I realized how it doesn't matter if the drawing is any good at all. It's the desire the artist has. The fact that this kid couldn't waste a minute and needed to draw on the train.

I was inspired by him. I haven't picked up a pencil all week. I was sick w a nasty flu, but I'm back.

These are old. I've been told my work from the past is much better. One day I'll prove different. When I don't have so many graphics to create.

More from my my past, college years. Most of you have never seen it, and I can't post what I'm really up to, so here it is. This was completed for a good teacher. She challenged us to research and think out of the box. To look and discover new and old artists and to draw everyday. We kept a sketchbook and it was mandatory to draw from life each day. I decided to draw birds, I was fascinated with them. I look back and realize that I wasn't really fascinated, I was just lazy. I can draw birds with my eyes closed. Not cool, but interesting, I use this same odd type of design skill to make money nowadays.

I'm a Fashion victim who commits many fashion Faux Pas, never the less I love fashion, Fashion Illustration.

I did these when I was a student, a series of 10 were created.
3 were selected for a show. 1 piece was missing after the show.
Years and years later I still miss that piece.

The titles of my blogs should be "something old but new for you". As I've said before, most of my time is spent creating graphics for clothing. I'd love to post them but I have to wait a year, till the graphics are in the stores. Plus illustrated work is more fun.

Some Old Fashioned Elegance

When It's COLD outside! It's so cold here in Brooklyn.

Nothing new, but once again new for you.

The face was a quick pen & ink I did while in High school. I like it, so I've saved it. This was one of the first times I experienced a complete adrenaline rush while creating something. I felt so high on life, I had no fear and this is was came out, in a matter of 20 minutes.

This one here, (forgive me for such a sloppy job in masking the image together.) I did this my second year of college.( a lot of the image is cut off, I scanned it in , it's large) I had this amazing teacher who was completely under appreciated. I remember her walking around the room. When one of her students created something she thought was beautiful, she'd stop for a minute and stare.
A slow most pleasant smile would come to her face.
This piece started off well, in between I feel in love with a nice guy, and what could have taken 2 days to finish took way longer. My teacher was not smiling while she walked passed me. Even so, at the end of the semester she asked me to submit the piece in the school exhibit. It was nice to be in the show, but in the back of my mind I knew I could do better.
When I look at this piece I think of my professor, I think of Brian and the memories of college.

As I've mentioned before I'm a garmento. I make my living by designing clothing, mostly all the art that goes on clothing, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.
My last freelance project involved creating an art nouveau piece for a long sleeve tee.

I work full time, and my freelance time is really limited so I had to think quick. Luckily, art nouveau in the garmento world is quite easy. There is so much art reference that has already been created that can be redrawn to work into the design.

This challenge had a fun twist for me. Back in college I had to take a children's book class. I decided to redraw some of my sketches, and find reference to as Tim Gunn would say "Make it Work".

Here's the piece I created, using one of my college sketches and some art nouveau reference, that I might have put to shame, sorry if so.

Here are the illustrations created in college, keep in mind I was a student, a kid.
